The Canadian Engineering Education Association- Association Canadienne de l’éducation en génie
(CEEA-ACÉG) is committed to providing a safe and welcoming experience at our events for all
participants to make it possible for true collaboration, creativity, innovation, and idea exchange to
thrive. Conference participants include delegates, students, speakers, organizers, exhibitors, sponsors,
volunteers, host institution staff, and CEEA-ACÉG staff.
As an organization we are guided by our mission, vision and values (https://ceea.aor360.ca/about/about-ceea-aceg/) and the Code of Ethics of Engineers Canada.
All participants are subject to the Code of Conduct, with the understanding that the CEEA-ACÉG Board of
Directors or its delegate(s):
- Will set this code as a standard for all CEEA-ACÉG activities.
- Are available to respond to complaints of unacceptable behaviour in a timely manner
according to the current process and expect compliance with requests to stop unacceptable
behaviour.
- May seek assistance from hotel / conference venue security or local authorities if deemed
necessary based on the situation.
- May prevent participants who have demonstrated unacceptable behaviours from
participating in live and virtual CEEA-ACÉG events and programs.
- May not refund registration fees or charges to participants who breach this code of conduct.
For participants:
The Association values your attendance and expects all participants to help ensure a safe and positive
experience for everyone.
We expect all participants will:
- Treat each other with respect and consideration, valuing a diversity of views and opinions
- Behave in a professional manner
- Communicate openly, critiquing ideas rather than individuals
- Be kind to others
- Be polite and respectful on social media and online platforms regarding the event and its participants.
- Ask for explicit consent from the speaker and organiser prior to publishing presentation recordings or video clips on any kind of media or platform (e.g. scientific publications, social media or conference websites). Posting (a few) slides (or parts thereof) on social media (e.g. X, Facebook, Instagram etc.) helps promote scientific discussion and is permitted unless the speaker has indicated otherwise.
- Follow all applicable rules and procedures of the event, including any relevant health protocols.
- Adhere to the principles of scholarly integrity
Unacceptable behaviour includes, but is not limited to:
- Harassment, which includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome sexual attention; and/or additional violations of relevant human rights legislation.
- Degrading or offensive remarks.
- Real or implied threat of professional or financial damage or harm.
- Inappropriate disruption of meetings or events, including social activities.
- Copying, redistributing, or using data from presentations without permission from the authors.
- Violating the rules and regulations of the hotel, convention centre, host institution or other participating site.
